Do Unto Others …
“Therefore,
whatever you want others to do for you, do also the same for them, for this is
the Law and the Prophets.” (Matthew 7:12, CEV)
Jesus says that this statement,
summarized the Law and the Prophets – it reflects everything God wants from us.
There is only one other place
where He made a similar claim of something being the Law and Prophets in a
nutshell – that was when He was answering the question “What is the most
important commandment?” There, Jesus said:
“‘You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all
your soul, and all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. A
second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ The entire law
and all the demands of the prophets are based on these two commandments.” (Matthew 22:37-40, NLT)
So, what is Jesus telling us
here?
First, He is telling us that He
values people more than anything else. When Jesus talks about judgment and
eternal life, it is most often in the context of either knowing Him or how we
treat people. The Bible makes it clear that our love for God is expressed by
our love of people (see 1
John 3:11-19 & 1
John 4:7-21).
And then it tells us that our
love for people must be demonstrated through loving actions. It is not enough
to just keep from treating people badly, we must be looking for ways to treat
them the way we would like to be treated – the way God has treated us. Love, to
be real, must be active.
We will talk more about this on
Sabbath in a sermon titled “You have heard …” If you are unable to be at
church, check this blog out next week to download and read a copy of it.
My prayer is that we will become a church known for its
active love for others.

Healthy for a Lifetime
Healthy for a Lifetime
offers a powerful and positive message of hope to everyone who has seen family
and friends affected by heart disease, diabetes, obesity and other conditions.
There are few things more important than our health and while much time,
effort, and money has been spend on ways to improve health over the past 50
years, obesity has nearly tripled, diabetes is up about 600%, and heart disease
remains the leading killer.
Only whole food plant-based
nutrition has been scientifically proven to actually reverse all these
conditions without negative side effects, but this information has not been
widely shared with the public. This is an opportunity to hear the evidence
firsthand from the leading experts in a relaxed, fun, and non-medical
atmosphere where all are welcome.
Healthy
for a Lifetime will take place Saturday, October 19, 2019 starting at 9:00
am and concluding around 5:00 pm at the CHI Health Center in Omaha (455

Adventist Screening Verification
Verified Volunteers has changed their name to Sterling
Volunteers. The NAD has decided to select a parent name that can remain in
their publications and website landing pages on a permanent basis. The name
chosen for all our background screening and training needs is Adventist Screening Verification.
In cooperation with the Kansas Nebraska
Conference, we are working with Adventist Screening Verification to
provide background checks and on-line education for our church officers and
everyone who works with our children. This helps ensure that we have some
training to help us recognize and avoid situations that would put our children
at risk. In addition to our elected Church Officers, everyone who works with
Pathfinders and Adventurers, Children’s or Youth Sabbath School Classes,
Children’s Church, and VBS must go through this training and submit to a
background check (there is no cost to you or to our church). It will take about
an hour of your time.
To go to the website where you begin this process, click here and then select First-Time
Registrant and follow the instructions. For more information, contact Pastor T
(402-517-5333).
