Reopening the Church

Our Governor has announced that our state will begin loosening restrictions on some businesses and churches allowing them to begin functioning again on a limited basis. (To learn more about this, check out the articles at the end of this section by clicking on their title.)

We have not yet decided when we will open the church doors to services again. It’s a process our church leadership is dealing with right now and will be finalized at our next Church Board meeting (May 12). Until then, we will not see any changes in the way we are conducting worship.

Even after that, we will be moving slowly, ensuring that we stay within the guidelines set by our State and the CDC. The last thing we want is to move ahead in such a way that our church becomes a vehicle for COVID-19 exposure.

Are we wanting to get back together again? More than we can express in words. But, we want to do it in a way that minimizes the risk of spreading the virus around and protects your health.

Please keep praying for us – and all our church members during this difficult time. And if you become aware of something happening with someone that we need to get especially involved with, please let us know (especially if that someone is you). We would rather be notified 10 times about a need than to miss it. You can contact either Pastor T (402-517-5333) or any one of our Elders (click here for a current list with contact information).

We are still having an Interactive Worship Service Online each Sabbath morning at 11:05 am. You can view it on our Facebook Page, our Homepage, or our YouTube Channel.

We are having Prayer Meetings, Board Meetings, and MLT Meetings on our Zoom Channel (click here for instructions on how to join these meeting)

We are communicating through Golden News (our e-mail newsletter), the Pastor’s Blog, the homepage of our Website (, our Facebook Page, and through Remind.

For the most reliable, up-to-date information, on the COVID-19 virus situation, check out the CDC , the World Heath Organization, Adventist Risk ManagementAdventist Health, UNMC, and the University of Minnesota, COVID-19 Resource Center.

Redemptive Conversations

Don Jacobsen's blog last weekend was titled Redemptive Conversations and shares some interesting facts about the number of people attending our digital worship service here in the middle of COVID-19.

I like the term “redemptive conversations.” Sounds friendly. Sounds neighborly; spiritual. What sometimes slows me down is that I worry I might not get it just right and it would turn out to be awkward. We’ve all met members of the God Squad who come across like a 7:00 am marketing call. You’re not interested in what he is selling and he is not interested in hearing why you are not interested. Ruthie got a call like that yesterday morning.

Here’s the difference: A redemptive conversation doesn’t necessarily need words. Last week, still shackled by the corona virus lockdown, a pastor friend of ours in Canada, with his wife and kids, prayed for a strategy – and the Lord gave them an idea … (Click here to read the entire post.)

Questions for Sabbath

This coming Sabbath during our online Worship Service, Pastor T will be answering questions. He will start by looking at the COVID-19 pandemic in light of Jesus’ prophecies found in Matthew 24:1-14. The underlying question is this: Is this a sign of the end? How does it relate to Jesus’ second coming?

If there are other questions you would like him to address, please text him at (402) 517-5333 or click here. If there are more questions than can be dealt with this Sabbath, he will continue the following Sabbath as well. Please get the questions to him as soon as possible so he has some time to prepare a thoughtful, Bible-based answer.

Wall of Love

We are extending our campaign to support the Bellevue Food Pantry through the month of May

Due to the continued increase in unemployment during the COVID-19 crisis, food pantries have seen a large increase in traffic. This is true for the Bellevue Food Pantry, which serves the Bellevue zip codes 68005, 68123, 68147, 68157. People in need – living in these zip codes – can pick up food every 30 days on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9-12 am and 1-4:00 pm. Seniors can pick up food every 21 days.

You can take food donations to their office on Wednesdays between the hours of 1-4 pm (1912 Hancock Street in Bellevue – phone number 402-292-2961).

You may give funds through our Online Giving Portal – designate your gift as Local Community Service. You may also mail a check to Golden Hills SDA Church, 3005 Golden Blvd., Bellevue, NE 68123. Make the check out to Golden Hills SDA Church and put Food Pantry in the memo line.
