"Be still before the Lord
    and wait patiently for him"

Psalm 37:7

More Promises for Today

Here are a couple of promises that are helping me deal with life right now – perhaps you’ll find them helpful too – Pastor T.

“… If you remain in me and my words remain in you, you may ask for anything you want, and it will be granted! When you produce much fruit, you are my true disciples. This brings great glory to my Father.” (John 15:7-8, NLT)

Don’t fret or worry. Instead of worrying, pray. Let petitions and praises shape your worries into prayers, letting God know your concerns. Before you know it, a sense of God’s wholeness, everything coming together for good, will come and settle you down. It’s wonderful what happens when Christ displaces worry at the center of your life. (Philippians 4:6-7, MSG)

Sabbath Services

It’s wonderful to have people back in our building again for worship. Our in person attendance is not high, but it is a start.

The next few Sabbaths will continue to look and feel a bit different as we continue with social distancing, required face masks, and a format for our worship that focuses on both those who are watching at home and those attending in person.

Whenever you feel you’re ready to join us in person, you’ll be welcome – as long as you’re willing to follow the health and safety guidelines (click here to see them).

If you currently have underlying health concerns, it still may be the wisest thing to stay home a few more weeks till we see the direction the disease is taking here in our area.

We will continue livestreaming our services and inviting you to interact with us via text messages. You can view it on our website, our Facebook Page, or our YouTube Channel.

We will continue to communicate through our website, our Facebook Page, Golden News (our weekly email newsletter – click here to sign up for it), and the Pastor’s Blog.

We are available by phone and can begin making selective home visits again (click here for contact information for our Elders and me).

As always, we are praying for guidance and listening to health professionals and our local and state governments.

Worship Service DVDs

There is a video recording made of each week’s worship service. It is available on DVD. If you would like to receive these please contact Lori Knutson (402-980-5018).

Love is Not Self Seeking

This is Part 6 of a series titled Love Matters Most, a blog on Lightbearers’ website.

I have a friend who wears a t-shirt that says, “I have gone to find myself. If I get back before I return, please keep me here.”

To me, that’s a clear picture of how confusing the journey of self-discovery can be, which, as a society, we’re pretty obsessed with. We go off backpacking through Europe or take up basket weaving in search for clarity (like the basket’s gonna show you who you are).

But Scripture shows us a different way … (Click here to read the rest of the article.)

From Bible Gateway’s Weekly Brief

The Biblical Method for Soothing Rage: In a defensive and divided era, how can followers of Jesus reveal a better way of living, one that loves others as God loves us? How can Christians be the kind of people who are known, as the book of Proverbs puts it, to "turn away wrath?" What does the Bible mean when it compels us to give "a gentle answer" to hostile people? Bible Gateway interviewed Scott Sauls about his book, A Gentle Answer: Our "Secret Weapon" in an Age of Us Against Them. (Click here to read more.)

How to Say No and Not Feel Guilty: Are you overwhelmed with your to-do list? Do you feel guilty when you say "no" to anything? Were you taught that "no" is a dirty word? Do you think saying "no" is a sign of weakness? What does the Bible say about saying "no"? Bible Gateway interviewed Kevin G. Harney about his book, No Is a Beautiful Word: Hope and Help for the Overcommitted and (Occasionally) Exhausted. (Click here to read more.)

A Day in the Life of Bible Translators: Meet Jock and Katy Hughes with Wycliffe Bible Translators. In 1984 they traveled to Indonesia to begin translating the Bible for the Aru People. In this video, the Hughes take us on a tour of what it’s really like to work in the world of Bible translation. (Click here to read more.)
